DAER NIGHTCLUB

Year: 2019
Location: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Miami, FL

Production Design: Stephen Lieberman, SJ Lighting

Scope of Work:

For the grand opening of DAER Nightclub, premier lighting designer  Stephen Lieberman of SJ Lighting hired SGPS ShowRig to build a kinetic ceiling that would serve as the centerpiece for the club.

The design called for five ceiling pieces covered with fabric and pixel-mapped LED that could support conventional lighting products and withstand the humid climate of South Florida. The north, south, east, and west pieces are hung on fixed speed motors that can lower and lift at 64 fpm. The center ceiling piece is hung by variable speed motors and acts as a halo, capable of tilting and lowering to display a lighted chandelier inside.

SGPS ShowRig had 55 days from the time of award to the time the club needed to open. To expedite the assembly process, our engineers designed each part to be CNC cut to easily slip together before welding. We were also able to design the system based on a commercially available chain hoist, eliminating the need to develop a branch new winch.
